Oxfam IBIS has been working in Sierra Leone since 2006 on supporting the Government through Education and Governance programs. Since 2014, Oxfam IBIS has been an implementing partner in the Promoting Renewable Energy Services for Social Development (PRESSD) project funded by the EU and supported by the Ministry of Energy. Under the project, Oxfam IBIS is: supporting 12 schools with solar PV technology in Kono; promoting solar pico-lights in Kono secondary schools; building awareness of renewable energy in rural communities; supporting polytechnics with solar PV advanced training for lecturers, curriculum development, and laboratory equipment; supporting a women's scholarship program to study Solar PV Technologies; and working with partners on generating a sustainable renewable energy market, among many other activities.
